Legacy 300 Charity Event

I have been coaching on the track at the Lee Valley Velopark (a.k.a. the Olympic Velodrome) a lot recently and on ………. July I was asked to cover a corporate session for the day. There’s nothing particularly interesting about that but what was unusual was that it actually turned out to be a Charity day rather than a Corporate.

Legacy 300Legacy 300 is a scheme that organises days where anyone can spend time taking part in a sport with the stars of that sport-Olympic/Paralympic medallists generally. In this case, they had organised a track day for around 60 people and organised for Rebecca Romero to be on hand for the day and answer any questions that the riders might have. In case you don’t know Rebecca is the only British Athlete to win Olympic medals in 2 different sports-a Silver in Rowing (in 2004) and a Gold in Cycling (in 2008).

As I said, the Legacy 300 scheme organises the day and then Charities auction places to raise funds-in this case over £35,000 was raised with some riders paying nearly £1000 for the experience-pretty impressive stuff!

Photographer Philip Atkinson was on hand to capture the day and give each rider a momento and he managed to snap a few great shots of me coaching-here’s a few of the images:
